Essential Bikes

"We don't need a "reason" to help other people, it is part of our culture and belief here.  We know we are making a difference by donating Essential Bikes"

Why

Green Apple Bikes was established to bring the community an amenity seen in larger towns.  Volunteers  have identified a transportation need in Manhattan.   To serve the needs of the Manhattan community a new  program was established :  Essential Bikes.

Studies show Green Apple Bikes are used for the following:
  • To and from work
  • Grocery Shopping
  • To and from school
  • Job interviews
  • Quick Errands across town
How it works

Essential Bikes donates bicycles to riders identified through pre-determined requirements.
Process
  • Identify rider
  • Personally contact and learn about the riders needs
  • Determine willingness to care for a donated bike
  • Work with employer or social services to vet adoptee
  • Coordinate delivery of bike
  • Solicit shop quality bikes from local  citizens and bike shops
  • Solicit donations of $125
Donations

Donations can be made in two ways:
  • Pledging $125
  • Donating Bicycles
$125  provides $75 for initial maintenance and $50 to maintain the bicycle for the year.
